Classical Photos (Memories) of Pakistan Cricket Team:
Here are some classical photos of
Pakistan cricket history with a little description. Pakistan cricket team won
their first major trophy by beating India in Sharjah in 1986. Javed Miandad
became the national hero of Pakistan by hitting a winning six on the last ball.
In the photo below you can see (from Left): Abdul Qadir, Mohsin Kamal, Javed
Miandad, Mansoor Ilahi, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Mansoor Akhtar.
Pakistan had the deadliest pace
attack in late 1980's and early 1990's. Imran Khan was an experienced pacer
leading other young and aggressive pace men. Below is a photo from a 1989
magazine that will describe the rest.
On April 18, 1986 Javed Miandad hit a winning 6 on the last ball when only 1 wicket was in hand. Chetan Sharma was bowling and tried to bowl a yorker which turned into a low full toss and Miandad clear boundary. It was the first major win for Pakistan and led to a series of big wins afterwards.
On April 18, 1986 Pakistan was playing against India in Sharjah. 4 runs were required from the last ball and only one wicket in hand. Chetan Sharma was the bowler and he wanted to bowl a yorker to seal another win for India. Thinking was right but execution was wrong, the yorker turned into a low full toss which Miandad smashed for a six and became a national hero of Pakistan. It happened many years ago, but it is still fresh in people's minds. Because of this victory, Pakistan got a psychological advantage over India and had a series of successes afterwards.
Since that day Sharjah had become
a bed of rivalry between India and Pakistan. People around the world waited for
months to watch these two teams playing against each other on this historic
ground. But both teams stopped playing bilateral series because of diplomatic
tension.
